Labradorite belongs to the plagioclase feldspar group, a mineral series comprising as much as 60% of the Earth's crust. However, unlike its more common cousins, Labradorite stands out because of its vibrant iridescence, aptly termed "labradorescence." The stone derives its name from the Labrador Peninsula in Canada, first discovered in 1770.
However, it's worth noting that the stone can also be found in other parts of the world, including Finland, Madagascar, and Ukraine.
